At King Street Primary School, it is our intent to encourage children to develop a greater understanding, appreciation and knowledge of the world around them (both past and present), by fostering a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world and its people, as well as their own cultural heritage.
We aim to build upon children’s understanding of places, people, human and physical environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. This will be facilitated not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of fieldwork and educational visits.
Geography is, by nature, an investigative subject, which develops and understanding of concepts, knowledge and skills. Our Geography curriculum aspires to develop knowledge and skills that are progressive and transferable to other curriculum areas, which also promote the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
