PSHE

PSHE

At King Street Primary School it is our intention to teach all children how to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society, through personal, social and health education (PSHE). During PSHE lessons, children will tackle many of the issues facing them as they grow and will develop skills to help them build resilience and coping strategies. Children will gain an understanding of how they are personally developing as well as begin to appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.

All PSHE lessons are based on our ‘Happy Centred School’ programme of learning, this promotes children’s well-being and awareness of their mental health. Every lesson is accessible to all our children and differentiation is available in each session. All our children are encouraged to develop a sense of self-worth and are given the opportunity to play a positive role in their school and in the wider community.

SMSC
SMSC stands for Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural Learning. This is taught through our five weekly assemblies and through one PSHCE lesson per week (Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Emotional Education). We have a curriculum map which all staff follow to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum and learning is presented in class floor books.
Please see the dedicated SMSC page on our school website for more information.
