Kevin and Wilf - our guinea-pigs!

Thanks to Daniel from Tropical Supplies North East LTD, on Tuesday 29th January 2019 we welcomed two new members of our team!  Daniel kindly donated two Guinea Pigs, bedding and food.
They settled well into our EYFS Unit and were much loved by the staff and the children.
Sadly at the end of July 2020, Trev unexpectedly died.  Kev was missing his friend, so we chose a new friend for him.  Their first meeting could not have gone better!  They have been friends from the very start! (see the video below!)
I know the children will gain a lot from our new friends.  They have had lots of cuddles so far!
The children have been researching about them and creating a list of safe foods for them to eat.  We would be grateful if you could send old newspapers to school for us to use as bedding and any scraps of vegetables.
Please note that Kev and Wilf will be safely enjoying the warmth of their cage in Miss Whitfield's house each weekend, every holiday and in the event of school closures.
(Two very spoiled piggies and one very soft teacher! Haha!)
June 2020 - Whilst our school is closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Kev and Trev sent a message to our families through the Tapestry app.  Here are their replies.
We love them!
Hi, my name is Kevin, but you can call me Kev.  I have black and ginger hair and it's all messy!  I love nibbling my hay and having cuddles.  I like to see the pictures that the children draw of me and love listening to stories!
Hi, my name is Wilfred, but you can call me Wilf.  I am new to King Street Primary but I am looking forward to meeting you all.  I am a little bit nervous because I have never been to school before.  I like squeaking, running really fast and eating vegetables.
