Send My Friend to School Campaign 2017

SMSC and Rights Respecting Events
We joined in with the Send My Friend to School Campaign 2017!
Each house team wrote letters to our local MP Helen Goodman and to the Secretary of State for International Development, the Right Honourable Priti Patel.
We were campaigning to ensure that all children have access to a quality primary education!
Did you know that there are currently 263 million children around the world who are missing out on school?
Our school council helped to write a presentation and then elected class representatives to speak to our local MP. We hope to get the UK government to increase funding for global education. We CAN make a difference by raising our voices!
We received a reply from the Secretary of State Priti Patel as a result of our campaign efforts.
We are lucky to live in a democracy where we can raise our voices and campaign and have freedom of speech. All of the teachers were very proud of the efforts of all the pupils who joined the campaign. You are all contributing to making the world a better place and becoming active citizens of the world.
Our learning was linked to Article 28 from the UNCRC:
Every child has the right to an education. Primary Education must be free. Secondary education must be available to every child. Richer countries should help poorer countries to achieve this.
