Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!
A very big welcome to our Year 3 class page. My name is Mrs. Heightley and I am the Year 3 class teacher. I have been the Year 3 teacher for quite a number of years now, and I must say, it is the best year group! Year 3 children are now at the beginning of their Key Stage 2 life. I am honoured to be teaching your child at this point of their education and I can't wait to watch them grow and learn during the year.
Our Teaching Assistant this year is Miss Brown. This is Miss Brown's second year in Year 3 and she is looking forward to supporting the class at the start of their Key Stage 2 journey. Miss Navin will also be supporting between Year 3 and Year 4 this year too.
Our Spring Term topic is 'The World Around Us'.
We have two Science topics in the Spring Term.
Spring 1: Forces and Magnets.
Spring 2: Plants
Your child's P.E. sessions are on a Monday and a Tuesday
Our Autumn term topic is The Stone Age. We will be finding out about life in our country and across the world during this period of time.
Our Autumn term Science topic is Rocks and Soils.
We will be learning about:
  • the three types of rocks (sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic) and how they are formed
  • Mary Anning and her fossil finding adventures
