Our school promotes healthy lifestyles and encourages children to exercise regularly and to make healthy food choices. Our school meals provider offers daily school meals which are nutritionally balanced and is a good way to ensure that your child is having a balanced diet.Â
Where children choose to bring a packed lunch to school, we also encourage this to be healthy and for children to try out new fruits or vegetables. Carrot or cucumber sticks always go down well with children! It is not recommended that children bring high fat foods such as pies and sausage rolls for their packed lunch. If you are struggling for ideas for packed lunches, we are happy to offer some ideas and to encourage your child to try new things.Â
We are privlidged to currently be one of the only primary schools in the country to be working with Public Health experts on a unique project called 'Eat Well, Sleep Well, Move Well'. This project aims to develop healthy individuals by ensuring they are enjoying healthy food whilst balancing enough physical excersise and sleep. Research already shows that being 'healthy' is about looking after the mind and the body both physically and mentally.Â
As part of the project we are currently developing a 'whole school approach' to food. This will consider how we encourage healthy habits across the whole school day. Once this is complete, it will be added to our policies section. During this project we hope to invite parents and carers to learning cafe sessions around healthy eating so please look out for the information in our weekly newsletter.
