Online Safety

Staying Safe Online

The internet is an amazing place. We can use it to learn new things, play games, watch videos, talk to friends and discover things we never knew before. Just like we need to be safe when we cross the road or when we are out playing, we also need to know how to stay safe online.

Sometimes, people online might not be who they say they are. They might ask questions that make us feel uncomfortable, ask us to keep secrets, or send us something that makes us worried or upset. If this ever happens, stop, close the screen and tell a trusted adult.

Remember, you should never share personal information such as your full name, address, school, passwords or photographs with someone you do not know. Your passwords belong to you, so keep them private.

It is also important to think before you click. Not every link, message, picture or website is safe. If something looks strange, makes you uncomfortable or seems too good to be true, don't click it, ask an adult for help instead.Â
